Humanitarian crisis and social suffering in Gaza Strip: an initial analysis of aftermath of latest Israeli war

Dr. Abu Rmeileh, Associate Researcher, Institute of Community and Public Health, Birzeit University, received her PhD in statistical Epidemiology from Glasgow University in 2004. Abu Rmeileh’s research interest is focused on epidemiology of chronic diseases and reproductive health.

Kyriakos S. Markides received his Ph.D. in Sociology in 1976 from Louisiana State University. He is currently the Annie and John Gnitzinger Distinguished Professor of Aging and Director of the Division of Sociomedical Sciences Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston

Marketing tobacco products to women and girls A seminar under the patronage of Mona Hrawi

On the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, which falls on the 31st of May of each year, the AUB Tobacco Control Research Group (AUB-TCRG) and the Center for Research on Population and Health (CRPH), organized a seminar titled “Tobacco and Gender: Marketing Tobacco Products to Women” under the patronage of Mona Hrawi, president of the Chronic Care Center and former first lady, in collaboration with the National Program on Tobacco Control. The seminar was supported by over 40 Lebanese NGO's and organizations.

Abdesslam Boutayeb Professor at the Department of Mathematics of Oujda University in Morocco, is currently visiting CRPH as Visiting Regional Fellow.  He has a PhD in Numerical Analysis from Brunel University in London (1990).

October 26, Afamia Kaddour
Contesting Relative Deprivation: The Ras Beirut Well Being Survey
Afamia Kaddour is a graduate of FHS with a BSc in Environmental Health and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She also has a Master of Science in Global Health and Population from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is Research Associate at CRPH, currently directing the Ras Beirut Well Being Survey as part of her dissertation work at Paris XI in social epidemiology.

Closing Ceremony: Bedouin Health Project holds closing ceremony at AUB's Agricultural Research and Education Center in the Bekaa

Conference: Youth Working Group presents on Qaderoon at the IUHPE World Conference in  Geneva. The 20th IUHPE World Conference on Health Promotion was held in Geneva from July 11 to 15. Over two thousand professionals and decision makers from all over the world attended this triennial event organized by the International Union for Health Promotion and Education and Health Promotion Switzerland.

The RHWG held its 22nd annual meeting in Ain Es-Sukhna, Egypt from July 5 to 7, 2010.

TCRG Workshop ‘
FCTC policies and their implementation in Arab Countries' co-hosted by The Tobacco Control Research Group and the Syrian Center for Tobacco Studies (SCTS) in collaboration with the Framework Convention Alliance (FCA) Eastern Mediterranean region and the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) June 28 - July 1 in Van Dyck Hall

National Dissemination Meeting: CRPH in collaboration with the Outreach and Practice Unit held a national dissemination meeting entitled: Towards the Promotion of Youth and Women's Health in Lebanon: A Holistic Research Approach on May 18, 2010, at the Safir Heliopolitan Hotel, Raouche.

Tobacco Working Group: Dissemination of the results of the Qualitative Study Evaluating the Implementation of Smoke Free Policies in Public Places in Lebanon, Friday, November 20 at the Gefinor Rotana Hotel.
