​The Department of Computer Science at the American University of Beirut prepares students for advanced studies and professional careers in the dynamically changing world of computing and information technology. Our programs combine the theoretical foundations of computing with the practical knowledge of software development vital to industry and provide a broad and integrated curriculum.

​News and Events​

  • Computer science students: Here is an excellent opportunity for an internship program unveiled by one of the world’s boldest and most influential multinational tech events. The programme will place up to 100 students into some of the world’s biggest corporate and government entities for a life-changing internship with intensive mentorship all the way, from application until the programme culmination. Students can participate individually or as a team or both but the goal remains the same:  ultimate experience, exposure and training for excellence from the best in the business.   • At the end of the spring 2021, awards were awarded to special students:

  • Murex Best Innovative Project Award: awarded to the students Waseem El Ghali and Maxim Hermez for their project titled “Future of Work”.​

  • Murex Best Collaborative Project: awarded to the students Yad Fattah, Mark Nourallah, and Lynn Wahab for their project “Fact Checking on Iraqi and Syrian Death Toll”.

  • MT2 Best Achievement Award: awarded to the students Georges Yeranjian, Mounir El Tannir, Marwa Karaki, and Khalil Al Ahmad for the project titled “Cloud Resource Management”. 
  • Murex Best SE Student: awarded to the student Ghaleb Hamadi
  • Henry Kais Award: was partitioned into multiple sub-awards:
  1. Competitive Programming Award: Miguel Merheb, Khaled Chehabeddine, Ahmad Zaaroura
  2. Undergraduate Researcher Award: awarded to Stephanie Maaz and Adnan Jaljuli
  3. Best Thesis Award : awarded to the student Yasmine Hamdar
  4. Best Graduate Student Award
  • The Henri Qais Naccache Best Fall Graduation Project Prize is awarded to students Melissa Tanios, Nicolas Kik, Jamil Mahmoud, and Maria Daou for their project entitled Cycle My Waste.

  • The Henri Qais Naccache Best Senior Student Prize is awarded to student Mhd Hussein Murtada based on his academic performance.

  • The  Henri Qais Naccache Best Junior Student Prize is awarded to students Jad Issa and Mohammed EzzeDine  based on their academic performance.​

  • The Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) and Mobile Technology Tomorrow (MT2) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to broaden the scope of experiential learning for Computer Science students, mainly in their Final Year Project and internship program.​​​

  • The Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce the launching of the Non-Thesis Course-based Master's in Computer Science. Prospective students and working professionals are now welcome to apply!
