AUB’s University for Seniors (UfS) aspires to be a flagship for promoting healthy ageing, advocating for the rights of older persons and portraying a positive image of ageing. The mission of the UfS is to be a late life learning program providing older adults with the space that offers intellectually enriching experiences and promotes mental and physical well-being and social inclusion. UfS is different from other adult education programs in that it is based on peer-learning; community-building; and fostering intergenerational connections. The program has been incredibly well-received; we’ve been growing much faster than expected due to the enthusiasm of older people to stay intellectually and socially active.
In 2020, UfS switched its program online due to the pandemic, thus breaking the stereotype that older adults cannot cope with online learning. The online program was a massive success with an average of 90 attendees per lecture and with members testifying to the positive impact the program had on their lives during the trying times. We started offering a hybrid program since Fall 2022 with some activities on campus and others online along with a very rich cultural and social calendar.
UfS organizes 2 terms per year (Fall and Spring) during which we offer a wide variety of lectures, mini-courses and educational trips. The only criteria to join the program is to be 50 years or older.
We look forward to welcoming you in our Spring 2025 term, stay tuned...
